MLS NEXT provides one of the best player development experiences in North America. MLS NEXT players have access to one of the highest levels of competition through a league that impacts every day club environments by setting standards that ensure every player trains in a world-class environment and competes in meaningful games.

Led by Director of Coaching Greig Robertson, who previously spent 18 years at Celtic FC, our Boston Bolts MLS Next program is dedicated to providing players with the highest quality soccer resources, superior technical curriculum, competitive athletic programs and personal growth opportunities that support a successful future.

Through their strategic partnership with MLS NEXT, the Northeast Academy League provides a competitive platform for U11 & U12 players who aspire to participate in MLS NEXT. The Northeast Academy League is an essential part of our club’s developmental pathway and ensures that youth players have access to the highest levels of competition in New England.

The Boston Bolts are a proven developmental pathway for elite players who want to play at the highest levels. In the past 3 years, 22 Bolts players have been called into United States National Team Regional ID Camps. The Bolts also have over 100 players currently playing in college, 40 of which are at Division 1 programs. Today, the Boston Bolts remain a top contender nation-wide in MLS NEXT competition and continue to develop and promote its players to the highest levels of collegiate, professional and national team status.

NORTHEAST ACADEMY

The U11-U12 Northeast Academy League will provide a competitive platform for players who aspire to participate in MLS NEXT. As part of the strategic cooperation agreement, MLS NEXT will collaborate with the Northeast Academy League to provide players with increased identification opportunities, individual assessments, and enhanced scouting and coaching education for team technical staff.

Our Northeast Academy players experience a holistic approach to player development that focuses on learning the intricacies of the game and meeting each individual player’s needs for optimal learning during training sessions.

TECHNICAL IDENTIFICATION

MLS NEXT strives to identify the top soccer talents in the nation. All of the players participating in our MLS NEXT program have the opportunity to be seen by U.S. Soccer National Team scouts as well as college coaches and scouts at all MLS NEXT games and showcase events, providing multiple opportunities during the season for all players to be seen.

COACHING STANDARDS

MLS NEXT believes that coaches are an integral part of creating the best environment and influence player development immensely. The Boston Bolts are proud to have five coaches who have achieved their A license.

Additionally, the Bolts are excited to have Greig Robertson on the club's leadership staff as the Director of Coaching. Greig joined the Bolts after 18 years with Celtic FC and oversees the implementation of our MLS Next strategic plan. In his role, Robertson continues to drive the Bolts forward on the club's mission to be the most professional amateur soccer organization in the country.
