Scottish FA Supports Coaching Development

COACHING DEVELOPMENT

The Scottish FA Came to Boston. Our Coaches Showed Up Ready.

Development doesn’t stop with the players. If we’re asking kids to get better every day, the coaches on the touchline owe them the same commitment.

This month, Boston Bolts coaching staff attended a special coaching education day led by two of the most respected figures in Scottish football development.

Ritchie Wilson — Head of Coach Education and Development at the Scottish FA and the U21 Men’s National Team coach — led a clinic on 11v11 tactical execution, including a classroom breakdown of international team coaching followed by an on-field session focused on attacking principles.

Alan White — Grassroots Coach Education Manager at the Scottish FA and Head of Community at Heart of Midlothian FC — led a session on 7v7 and 9v9 coaching for younger age groups, featuring street-football-inspired games that focus on player creativity and decision-making.

Elite insights into both the tactical side of the game and the foundational grassroots work that develops creative, confident players. That’s the full spectrum — and our coaches were in the room for all of it.

The Bolts Way isn’t just what we teach. It’s the fact that we never stop learning.
